The Manufacturing Process for Cold-Rolled Steel Strip

I. Hot Rolling Process

The production of cold-rolled strip steel begins with the hot rolling process, whose primary function is to roll the steel billet into strip steel of the desired thickness while eliminating defects in the steel. This process consists of several stages, including billet heating, hot rolling, cooling, and dust removal and temperature reduction.

II. Pickling Process

After hot rolling, the surface of the strip steel retains impurities such as iron oxides and scale. Pickling is required to make the surface smooth and clean, and to improve the strip steel’s corrosion resistance. The pickling process consists of several stages: acid immersion, rinsing, caustic treatment, rinsing, and pickling.

III. Cold Rolling Process

After pickling, the strip steel proceeds to the cold rolling process, where it is rolled to the desired thickness while achieving the required dimensions and surface smoothness. The cold rolling process primarily consists of several stages: coiling, feeding, adjustment, and rolling.

IV. Annealing Process

Cold-rolled strip steel may exhibit hardening, necessitating annealing to soften the steel, relieve internal stresses, and improve its physical properties. The annealing process primarily consists of several stages, including heating, holding, and cooling.

V. Galvanizing Process

To enhance the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of cold-rolled steel strip, a galvanizing treatment is required. This enables the strip to be used in humid or corrosive environments while also improving its surface quality. The galvanizing process primarily consists of several stages, including surface preparation, immersion in molten zinc, and drying.

Throughout the entire cold-rolled strip production process, each stage plays a unique role and possesses distinct characteristics. Strict operational requirements and monitoring controls are essential to ensure the quality and performance of the cold-rolled strip.
